Greetings from our Pastor
Thank you for your interest in St. John. If you're looking for a congregation that is rooted in the Scriptures and focused on Jesus Christ, then consider exploring what we have to offer.
We are a group of imperfect people who rest and rely on the mercies of God each day. Through worship, God forgives our sins and strengthens our faith toward him and love toward one another. Through Bible study, we grow in our knowledge of Christ and God prepares us to live faithful lives for Him.
We also seek to serve our community and one another through various groups for men, women, and youth. Whether through these or one of our special social or service events, there are many ways to get involved at St. John!
We welcome everyone to visit with us and learn more about what God is doing in and through our congregation. If you have any questions, don't hesistate to reach out to me. Email me directly at email@example.com.
The Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor
Welcome from our Director of Christian Education (DCE)
Greetings in Christ and welcome!
We are glad you're interested in St. John.
My name is Jessica Blocker and I serve St. John as the Director of Christian Education. As a DCE, my focus is on learning and fellowship opportunities for youth of all ages, particularly those age 3-18 from their first days of Sunday School through their last summer trip after high school. Take some time to explore our site and learn more about how St. John can serve your family – I’m particularly fond of the Youth page (surprise, surprise). I also encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about the variety of programming available as our brief paragraphs here just begin to scratch the surface! It is my joy and privilege to serve you and grow in Christ alongside you!
What kind of church is St. John?
Saint John is a congregation of Christians who gather around biblical teaching, Christ-focused discipleship, and reverent worship.
As confessional Lutherans, we hold to the historic Christian faith found in the Bible and as confessed in the Book of Concord. Our congregation is a member of
The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (www.lcms.org).
There several different groups you can be involved in and many ways to serve the community.
Learn more about what we believe by clicking the "
Beliefs" tab at the top of the page.
What is the worship service like?
Our style of worship is liturgical, which means that our services follow a pattern that has been used by Christians since the time of the Apostles! It is Christ-centered and focused on the Good News of forgiveness in Jesus.
Don't worry though, we're not too formal here. In our liturgy we simply hear God's Word and promises spoken to us, learn about Christ's forgiveness, and recite Scriptural truths. The pastor preaches a sermon that amplifies the meaning of the Bible for our lives today.
We love to sing and are accompanied by piano or organ (and sometimes other musical instruments!).The words of the liturgy and hymns are on displays or you may use a hymnal.
Our services last about an hour. A time of coffee and refreshements follow.
What are your worship times?
We meet for worship on Saturdays at 5:30pm and Sundays at 9:00am all year long.
Communion is offered on the 2nd and 4th weekends for members.
During the seasons of Advent and Lent, there is worship on
Wednesdays at 6:30pm.
What if I have more questions or want to become a member?
If you would like to learn more about St. John or how you can start the process to become a member, reach out to our pastor. He can also answer any questions you have about baptisms, weddings, or funerals.
Email him at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at 507-283-2316. He would love to sit down and answer any questions you have.
What kind of Christian Education do you offer?
Adult Bible study is offered year-round on Sundays following the worship service. Studies are pastor-lead and open to anyone who is interested in exploring God's Word.
Sunday School for children is offered Fall through the Spring and follows worship on Sunday mornings.
There are also midweek options for children on
Kids for Christ, Confirmation Classes, and Youth Group, except in the Summer.
There are often other opportunities for group study at other times. Check the front page of the website for current times.
